    I have been looking for a slate baker's rack for some time now and was frustrated with the high price tags and "frilly" selection. I was so excited to see this item listed (not to mention the free shipping!) but was skeptical that things aren't always as attractive as they seem in their advertising. [...] the slate is even MORE attractive than the online pictures.Assembly was surprisingly and incredibly easy, we had absolutely no problems with the shelving as others have mentioned.All in all this was a wonderful transaction. Barring some catastrophic baker's rack cave-in in the middle of the night(which I have no reason to anticipate), I would say it was perfect!

    The finish on this item is so poor that it would be impossible not to scratch it on its way from China to your home. The welds also are not smooth, and part of one of the slate shelf inserts had flaked off. I purchased the item as a winter home for my orchids and other outdoor plants that need to come in. It is better than the cart those plants were on last year, but not great. If you are looking for excellent quality, don't get this item. If you are looking for a casual shelf for plants and bric-a-brac that you will likely repaint, it is OK. Given the high cost of such items, it is probably worth the money.

        purchased this rack for use in my office. The finish on the parts was poor, as were the welds for the shelf supports. If this purchase had been for my home, I would have returned the unit. Given its intended use in my office, I will put up with the deficiencies.

        We did a remodel of our kitchen/dining room. This product looks good and is very sturdy. We had to spray paint the iron because it was all scratched when it arrived. wasn't very happy about that! But it looks good now and it will work in my dining area.
