Bookcase
Our exclusive Narrow Mission Bookcase - Oak busts two myths of contemporary furniture: It isn't all black, and it isn't all abstract. Instead, it can be light and streamlined, geometric and uncomplicated - form does follow function, after all. This trim Mission-style bookcase - complete with an open design, small footprint, and pale finish - will function beautifully in corners and small spaces, allowing you to make the most of the room you have while making it subtly modern, too.
The pale, pretty oak finish and straight, Mission-inspired lines are both sophisticated and breezy - and ideal for the living room or a kid's room alike. The bookcase is crafted with a solid rubberwood frame and MDF shelves all covered with solid wood veneers. MDF wood is a dense, super-sturdy engineered wood that offers greater strength and is more warp-resistant than regular wood. Four open shelves wait to be filled with collectibles, books, and photos.
This Hayneedle exclusive coordinates with other pieces in the Mission collection.
The Beauty and Benefits of Rubberwood
Hailing from the maple family of trees, the rubber tree is used in the manufacture of high-end furniture. This durable Asian hardwood is valued for its dense grain, minimal shrinkage, attractive color and acceptance of different finishes. It is also prized as an "environmentally friendly" wood, as it makes use of trees that have been cut down at the end of their latex-producing cycle.

Looks great, and fits well for small area. Initially, good shelf for the price. However, pre-drilled holes for shelves had been drilled incorrrectly. To correct, the manufacturer placed wood putty in wrong holes and new holes drilled. This weakended the shelves. When assembling the shelves with the provided screws, first two shelves cracked. I had to drill larger holes that would not stress the wood where wrong holes were repaired for the additional shelves. I had to repair the cracks with a wood glue and clamps, and allow to dry for a day before I could complete the assembly.

This bookshelf fits perfectly in my small bedroom. I was able to fill the shelves with my books and still had room for a picture frame or two and a plant on top. This was exactly what I was looking for, it was easy to put together, and in excellent condition.

I LOVE that it is all wood ... a good quality product that looks lovely. Looks like I spent much more than I did on it. Adds to the room. Gets study clutter from the floor around the recliner and organized on shelving! Took more time and energy to assemble than I had hoped, but it was well worth it! (motorized screwdriver was pretty necessary) A nice addition to our room.

Comments about Narrow Mission Bookcase - Oak:
Easily assembled by a woman! The holes were predrilled and went together very easily. No reason to use an electric driver, if the torque was turned up too much then it could crack the shelves. It is sturdy and looks really nice in my living room.
