Holes for screws used to secure top were too deep; causing the screws to pierce the top on 3 of the top corners!!! SO: Quality IS A Disappointment. Top,right front corner is slightly warped SO is STILL NOT quite pulled flush. Every shelf has rough finish or scratches. I am trying to cut off the tips of the screws tips that pierced the top. Then I will have to try to repair the damage to the finish.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

    Exhausting to assemble--must hand crank all screws (couldn't use my electric drill/screwdriver). Looks much "cheaper" in person than it appears in the listing. I ordered the Espresso finish, hoping for a dark brown (but still brown) and it looks black. Not a bad bookshelf, but not quite as nice or the color that I had expected.

    Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
